University City residents often wonder if Charlotte
is growing too fast.
You're already dealing with growing pains, driving
on busy roads like W.T. Harris Boulevard and sending
your teens to North Mecklenburg High, the largest
school in the state, with more than 3,000 students.

The University City Political Action Committee,
a nonpartisan group that formed last summer, recently
asked candidates for Mecklenburg County commissioner
seats in Districts 1 and 3 about how they would
handle growth.
Most said growth can't be stopped, but it can be
controlled. One candidate suggested that the county
should consider an adequate public facilities ordinance,
which is designed to tie the approval of new residential
development to the amount of public services available.
